Don’t forget, tomorrow is PINK SHIRT day. We hope to see many people wearing pink as one way to show support against bullying. Remember, you don’t have to wear pink to show you care; you can do this by treating others kindly and with respect the differences in others. Unfortunately sometimes people fear those who are different from them and this fear can turn into anger and hatred – just like when the boy from Nova Scotia who was not accepted by everyone for wearing pink. When this happens, everyone loses. You can do your part by accepting others for themselves.
Tuesday, February 26th our Winter Carnival Theme is: “Crazy Hat” or “Crazy Hair” Day
Students can wear their craziest creations.
Reminder that students in Grade 3 will be going skating in the morning.
This Wednesday is Pink shirt day. Pink shirt day started in Nova Scotia when a boy wore pink to school and was made fun of for it. Two other boys decided they ask others to join in and wear pink to stand up to the bullies. They decided to wear pink to show that they cared and that it’s not ok to be mean to others because they are different from you. Remember it only takes one person to make a difference – be a bucket filler, not a bucket dipper.
The primary students had a great time celebrating the 100th day of school today. They took part in a variety of activities such as reading and writing 100 words, making 100 day posters, decorating glasses with 100 stickers, stringing necklaces with 100 fruitloops and lots more!
Be sure to ask your child all about their 100 day activities!
Thank you to the Home and School and parents of NSEE for all the kind and thoughtful gestures shown to us during staff appreciation week and Valentine’s Day. Your gracious efforts made our staff feel valued and we truly appreciate all that you do. It is this sense of community that makes NSEE such a great place to learn!
Skating will be held during the month of February. You will find a complete schedule below. As in past years, skating is part of the Physical Education program, students will be expected to participate.
On Friday, January 26 students, staff and parents dressed in their best pirate costume and celebrated National Family Literacy Day.
Family Literacy Day is a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 and held annually in January to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. This is the 10th consecutive year that NSEE students have celebrated this event. This year’s theme was pirates.
