Take a look at the octopus video we watched because Olive Octopus is our Zoophonics O animal: is external) Here is the Story Bots Letter O link: is external) And Sesame Street's "Would you like to buy an O?" that reminded us about the two sounds for O: is external) The children are hearing letters in more places than just the start of words too. That Olive Octopus was in the middle of words like Mom and dog. They are starting to blend sounds to make words both orally and by making the sounds of the letters they see. So smart!

This is another great webpage for having fun with numbers! There are different difficulty levels as well as different games (counting, matching and ordering). Spending a few minutes each day playing games will help strengthen your child's number concepts. Computer games are a great way to learn while having fun! This game is also tablet friendly.

Grade 1 is learning about creating equal and unequal sets. When Mrs. Buggie, the math mentor, heard about this she was excited to share these great links to have fun with the concept. Of course kindergarten wanted to try too!

This link is for the interactive see saw with farm animals:

This link has a virtual pan balance; just drop down the grade level and then the "manipulatives" and pick bucket balance:

This is a Sesame Street video with Cookie Monster:

This video "Equal Means The Same" has good pictures to stop and look at:

We have been singing some French songs as we expose the children to French and the joy of learning another language. They love this Halloween song and wanted me to post the link so they can sing at home:

Mrs. Sturgeon, our guidance consellor, was in today and she talked with us about how to deal with angry feelings. We watched this book about a bunny who figures it out too:  If you scroll down you will see the video for the song too: When you can't get your way, just remember to say....

The home page on this page has lots of other books ansd activities about Howard B. too.

Tomorrow we will learn about kangaroos when we talk about the "k" sound! You can learn interesting facts from this cute video:I'm a Kangaroo: (link is external) out these videos of real kangaroos: (link is external) The action for Kayo Kangaroo is a kick! Be careful not to kick anyone when you listen to the StoryBots sing their K song: We (link is external) were polite for the letter p and now we will be kind for the letter k. No wonder everyone thinks we are great kindergarten kids!
