Mrs. Carney has received the Physical Education (District 16) Teacher of the Year award. This award is given to the physical education teacher who has shown an exemplary role in conducting a quality Physical Education program as defined by PHE Canada and serving as a positive role model in personal health and fitness in School District 16.

A reminder: Team 1 plays at the NSEE field at 3:45 against Nelson School. (Students can stay after school) Team 2 plays at the NSEE field at 4:45 against Napan Elementary School. (Students are to go home on the bus and return for the game) Please bring your water, shin guards and wear your uniform. Good luck!!

NSEE Home & School Family Fun Day   Due to the rainy forecast this weekend Home & School has decided to postpone Family Fun Day until Saturday, October 2nd from 11am til 3pm at the Irving Mainstop.   If you have any preserves, baked goods or silent auction items you would like to donate please call Debbie Matchett @ 622-7302.

NSEE is already busy with school sports. Mr. Buggie and Ms. Downey have already started the Cross-Country Running team. The team has meets every Wednesday for the next 5 weeks. .  Soccer is also underway at NSEE. Ms. Downey and Mr. Mutch have taken the 46 students that have signed up from grades 3 - 6 and created two teams. Each member has a schedule of up-coming games. See Sports Tab for full schedule

NSEE would like to welcome our new staff members. We have Christine Colwell (Guidance), Kelly Russell (Replacing Miss Mutch until Christmas- Grade 2), Holly Brophy (Grade K/1) We would also like to welcome back Donna Flanagan (Grade 4), Alma Sherrard (Custodian) and Paula Matchett (Administrive Assistant) and Pat Murphy (Custodian). We also have two student teachers from UNB with us Andrea Sobey (with Donna Flanagan  and Serena Sock (with Mrs. Holmes). We are looking forward to a great year!

We would like to extend a warm NSEE welcome to our new acting vice-principal, Mr. Dean Mutch.   Dean is replacing Mr. Aaron Johnston who accepted a new job as vice-principal at Blackville School.  NSEE is happy to have Mr. Mutch join our team and we are looking forward to working with him this school year.

The last day of school is an exciting day for students. This year the last day was particularly thrilling for Grade 6 student Branden Irving of Matthew’s Settlement. He was the lucky winner of a new mountain bike. The names of all the students in the school were in for draws for several prizes on the last day of school.The grand prize was a new mountain bike, generously donated by Sunny Corner Mainstop owner Cheryl Foran.

NSEE helds its annual Spell-a-Thon on Friday, April 16.  The top spellers from each grade level were selected to compete in a "Spell-Off" competition in the gymnasium in front of their schoolmates and parents and guests.  The Spell-a-Thon is a fundraising event where the proceeds are used to purchase and maintain technology within the school.  The total amount raised by the student body was $3111.16 and the winning class was Mrs. Henderson's Kindergarten class who raised $23.91 per student.

This morning Maritime Marionettes, a Nova Scotia based marionette theatre company visited and performed for the students of NSEE.  The performance this morning was Molly and the Oak Island Treasure and was well received by students and staff alike.  The play features a young girl Molly who goes off in search of treasure spoke of by her Uncle Peg.  Accompanied by her faithful fairy friend Pixie, Molly sets forth on an adventure where she meets a young Mik'maq boy, Ulgoimo.  The play has a rich maritime theme and atmosphere and is wonderfully accentuated by the music of The Barra MacNeil's.  At

The District 16 Creative Use of Technology in Education Awards were held at JMH on Thursday, February 18th.  NSEE had dozens of Tech porjects entered into the various categories.  We had four students nominated as finalists in the Photo Essay category.  Congratulations to Brian (Photo Essay: My Cat Milo), Tamara (Photo Essay: NSEE Fun) and Carter & Danya (Photo Essay: O'Canada). Our musical from last spring, "Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood" was nominated in the Digital Audio-Musical division.  When the prizes were awarded NSEE took the prize in this category.  The award was accepted by Kathleen,
