Please find the following documents attached:
- "Reading Strategies"- This document is to help you when your child gets stuck on an unfamiliar word.
- "Reading Comprehension Suggested Questions"-This document will provide you with suggested questions to ask while your child reads.
- "Kindergarten Writing Checklist"- Feel free to refer to this when your child is creating a writing piece.
- "Grade 1 Writing Checklist"- Feel free to refer to this when your child is creating a writing piece.
During these times it is hard to get reading materials besides those already in your house. If online reading is not an option, alternative reading materials could include:
-picture books (tell the story by looking at the pictures).
-audio books
-flyers
-comics
-graphic novels
-recipes
Helpful Hint: A simple rule of thumb for helping your child select books at his or her reading level is to have them choose a page in the book (not the first one) and read it. If he or she doesn’t know five or more of the words, then the book is too hard for pleasure reading. Support them by reading the book to them the first few times.

If you love art and would like an idea for something extra to do, check out Art for Kids Hub on YouTube. There are some instructional videos for how to draw an Easter Bunny, Easter Chick, Easter Basket and so much more! Of course you don’t need to watch a video to have fun drawing! Be creative and come up with your own Easter pictures! If you decide to do some drawing for fun this week, I’d love to see them! Post it onto our Facebook group!

Good morning, Kindergarten! Welcome to our first week of Home Learning. I have many exciting new learning suggestions for you. Every Monday morning, I will post new activities on my teacher page for the week. Don’t forget to pop on over to Miss. Downey’s teacher page as she will have a weekly Wellness activity for you and Ms. Mountain is only a click away! Be sure to visit her page for your weekly Culture lesson.
