We had lots of fun in math class lately. In our measurement unit we have been checking out how long/ tall and short things are compared to each other.

You may want to have some fun with this at home! Here are some ideas: Line your family up in order of height;  line up shoes in order of length; roll out playdoh (or cookie dough ! ) - who can make the longest :"snake"? ; line up the stuffed animals in order of height...

Sesame Street has fun with this concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVJQcwga0eI (link is external)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USGCnq0SRms (link is external) and  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtDBSvDbzxA (link is external)

Ask your child about "the same starting point" as you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAWHivueHzg (link is external)

Here is a link to some printable worksheets that address this topic too: http://www.mathworksheets4kids.com/tall-short.php

3D Shapes

Kindergarten are learning about 3D shapes. Here is a great link for learning their names and where we find the shapes in our environment. We are also practicing using describing words to talk about the shapes, their sides and faces, and how they move: curved, flat, straight, point, corners, smooth, solid, slide, roll, topple....
