International Walk to School Day

Posted: September 28, 2012

Our staff and students will be participating in the International Walk To School Day scheduled for Friday, October 5.  The purpose of this event is to highlight the benefits of walking to enhance a healthy lifestyle within our school community.  We plan to have buses unload at the mouth of the access road leading to the elementary school on the morning of October 5.  Staff and interested parents will meet the children and walk with them back to the school.  We would urge you not to use the  access road for the morning period between 8:00 and 8:50 a.m.  Our buses arrive between 8:00 and 8:35 a.m., and with double runs, we have fifteen buses unloading in the morning. Parents who normally drive their kids to school are asked to drop them off at the mouth of the access road where they  can join the students for the next bus to unload.  We are aiming for 100% participation again this year. We would also encourage parents to volunteer to walk with the students.  This would help with supervision and also show the students your support for walking as a healthy activity.
