Our Grade One classes went to Beaubear's Island on Thursday, June 13th. We visited the Interpretive Centre, where our tour guide, Cletus, shared a wealth of information with us. We were able to use audio-video displays, look at scale models, and examine artifacts. We went over to Beaubear's Island by boat, where we were treated to a guided, historic tour, filled with many surprises. We learned about the history of the shipbuilding era and the importance it had on this area at that time. After a picnic lunch, we walked to the Post Office in Nelson, where each student was given a postcard souvenir, and the students stamped the cards with the date, and a tall ships stamp. What a great day!
