Posted: April 13, 2020

Hello again Grade 5!

I’m hoping all of you had a nice Easter weekend!

Please go to Mrs. Mutch’s teacher page for Math, Miss Downey’s has Wellness Activities, Miss Mountain’s has First Nations Learning and Mrs. Esty has more Literacy links.

Were you able to choose something that interested you for Home Learning last week?  Here are some more Literacy Ideas for this week. Go ahead and choose what you would like to do to keep learning. Grade 5 Reading Goal - 30 minutes a day!

Creative Writing Prompts:

1) On a day that started like any other, your friends and family have started to treat you a bit strangely and you suspect that something is up. On a whim, you stay out a bit later than curfew. When you return, your house is surrounded by police cars. What do you do?

2) You are out camping in the forest with friends and you wake to find your lucky hat missing. You and your friends must track down the perpetrator, whether man or animal. Use the clues of the forest (tracking, etc.) to find this favorite hat.

Word work Activities:

Choose some words from the Mystery Word List below and see how many different sentences can you write? Read them out loud in a mysterious voice!

Just for fun, try writing a “silly sentence” and draw an illustration to represent your sentence.   If you are not sure what a word means, look it up in a dictionary/using a computer or ask someone to explain the meaning.
