Take a look at the octopus video we watched because Olive Octopus is our Zoophonics O animal: is external) Here is the Story Bots Letter O link: is external) And Sesame Street's "Would you like to buy an O?" that reminded us about the two sounds for O: is external) The children are hearing letters in more places than just the start of words too. That Olive Octopus was in the middle of words like Mom and dog. They are starting to blend sounds to make words both orally and by making the sounds of the letters they see. So smart!

The Story Bots have lots of words that start with the /j/ sound! (link is external) In our class, we have 1 student with a names starting with J - Jase.  The Sesame Street crew have some names that star with J too: (link is external) We will make Jack-o-lanterns too (paper ones so far!): (link is external) We will practice making the letter J - both the upper case that stands on the line and the lower case that looks like a fish hook hanging in the water.

We are learning the numbers 1-5! On the weekend the children may enjoy looking through magazines or store flyers to find pictures with 1 -5 things. See if they can make a page for each number. Write the number on the top of the page and then find as many pictures as you can with that number. For instance in a flyer you may see 2 apples or 2 shirts. We  will enjoy watching some funny videos for each number of the day.  These videos can be found on the Sesame Street website below. Click on "videos" and then type in search "number 4" or whichever number you are interested in. There will be lots of choices. Also on the same website you can click on "games" and search "counting" to find some fun activities.

Halloween is a great time to learn about the letter V too! There was a cute vampire on our door the children could read his speeech bubble as they walked in...."I am a vampire".  We read about bats and vampire bats. We found out they are not as scary as we thought! Can your child tell you how vampire bats get their food?  We found lots of other words that start with /v/ too. Grover has lots in this video: is external) Check out this V Video - a  volcano ! is external) And we can't forget the Story Bots:
