Tapping into your senses allows you to be more mindful of what is happening in your body at the present time. Try the attached activities and see how you feel. What did you notice that wouldn't have noticed before? How did it make you feel?

Today, I am encouraging everyone to get outside and enjoy the above normal temperatures. Spending time in green space or bringing mature into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing. Being outside can also do the following:

  • improve your mood
  • reduce feelings of stress or anger
  • help you take time out and feel more relaxed
  • improve your physical heath
  • improve your confidence and self-esteem
  • help you be more active
  • help you make new connections

You can use the two documents attached as a way to add some fun to your time outside. Enjoy!

Strategy: Deep Focused Breathing

This practice can reduce agitation, increase focus, and help us manage stress. Deep breathing can be helpful in the moment, when faced with a chaotic or challenging experience. But daily practice with deep, focused breathing can also prepare us ahead of time to respond constructively and with intentionality to chaos, stress, or anxiety.

Responsible decision making is the ability to make choices that affect you positively in your physical, intellectual, social, and emotional bodies. Responsible decisions are based on social morals, ethics, and safety. Leading students through the decision-making process with intention helps build capacity in their ability to make choices that best serve them and others. In doing so, we also support the student to responce (pause, evaluate consequences, and make a constructive decision that considers all parties involved) rather than react.

Being Kind to Others

Here is a short video about being kind to others to support today's theme.

Now, more than ever, let us approach one another with kindness. Let us find space to hold others and ourselves with warmth and tenderness. Take moments to breathe and to listen.
