This is another great webpage for having fun with numbers! There are different difficulty levels as well as different games (counting, matching and ordering). Spending a few minutes each day playing games will help strengthen your child's number concepts. Computer games are a great way to learn while having fun! This game is also tablet friendly.

Grade 1 is learning about creating equal and unequal sets. When Mrs. Buggie, the math mentor, heard about this she was excited to share these great links to have fun with the concept. Of course kindergarten wanted to try too!
This link is for the interactive see saw with farm animals: http://pbskids.org/sprout_games/jakers/seesaw/
This link has a virtual pan balance; just drop down the grade level and then the "manipulatives" and pick bucket balance: http://www.glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/mathematics/ebook_assets/vmf/VMF-Interface.html
This is a Sesame Street video with Cookie Monster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFrwrh1gEfk
This video "Equal Means The Same" has good pictures to stop and look at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKrL4K4GGMM

We have been singing some French songs as we expose the children to French and the joy of learning another language. They love this Halloween song and wanted me to post the link so they can sing at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLUIopGXEQQ

No wonder everyone thinks we are great kindergarten kids!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZukLiE

Nigel Night Owl introduced us to the Letter N this week. Here is the link to the N Story Bot video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZG0GQTskhE (link is external) We took a good look at the word "no" too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kotLRKkwZh4 (link is external) We also discussed that owls are nocturnal animals - they hunt at night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7okKyl7C34

The Story Bots had lots of words that started with the /j/ sound! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bGQ-XlLk8M (link is external) We did not have any students with names starting with J, but we knew other NSEE J names - Jacob, Josephine, and Jeremy! The Sesame Street crew have some names that star with J too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKYMpRSvg2Y (link is external) We practiced making the letter J - both the upper case that stands on the line and the lower case that looks like a fish hook hanging in the water. You will be able to see out paper Jack-O-lanterns when you come on Halloween.
