Math Facts

Posted: October 3, 2016

Today I sent home the attached Math Facts page for nightly home practice.(It doesn't need to be returned). Parents can call out the facts and have your child call out the answer. Our goal is to be able to give the answer automatically, without using fingers, in three seconds. Parents can choose by row, diagonally, or whatever combination you wish. The total time expected for nightly practice is five minutes!

Other ideas for facts practice might be writing out math facts, printing out fact practice sheets from the internet for your child to complete: (Like this one:  https://www.worksheetworks.com/math.html

Using apps or online mental math sites will work as well. (I put up sites continuously through the year which reflect strategies we're covering.)  There are several "home" games like Yahtzee and Dominoes, which require children to add and tally. I will be sending a Math Games Baggie home tomorrow with materials needed for various card and dice games which your child has learned in class, too.
